General Theory of Relativity

started with a happy thought

is but akin to the field of gravitation.

So far so good all easy all merry

but the next in the chain be profound very -

what baffled Newton and forced him to deity

was thought by one to be the physics of geometry

known was the time to be like the space

not 'space' and 'time' but 'space-time' in place

and to imagine that it curves, is a solid feat

but it had to be shown by the mathematics

years were spent by a genius brain

the intricacies that differential geometry ordained

but then came out in all its glory

almost a decade for the whole theory

gravity be but nothing more than 

a curvature in the space-time span

every single energy-momentum density

does the curving without impunity

the larger ball sinks deeper on a rubber sheet

makes tiny marbles revolve around it

sun and moon and you and me

are just like that - hail gravity !
